Why should I subscribe to a maintenance plan?

A maintenance plan does two things:

1. Keeps your warranty valid

To keep your generator’s warranty valid, the manufacturer requires you to keep a record of preventative maintenance service.

2. Ensures your equipment is ready for an outage

Your generator has only one job. When you lose power, it should come on and provide an alternative power source. If you don’t subscribe to a preventative maintenance plan, you won’t know your system doesn’t work until it’s too late.

Our ‘rest easy’ maintenance plans

We offer three maintenance plans to choose from that range in price and service to cover all of our customers needs and budgets.

The Basic Plan - Starting at $175

Set at our lowest price, The Basic Plan is designed for our customers who have a tighter budget or plan on doing some of their own maintenance but can use a hand with the occasional check-up.

Services include the following:

  • Access the controller fault log history and clear the auto-generated maintenance reminder.
  • Perform oil and oil filter replacement with aftermarket parts.
  • Test the battery for proper voltage and cold cranking amps. If a replacement is needed the customer will be informed and the battery can be replaced at standard GenTech pricing.
  • Perform a basic visual inspection of the generator's condition and note any damage or potential issues.
  • Test start the generator and leave in AUTO.

Failure of OEM generator or ATS components, parts, and materials are not covered by GenTech and will require an additional service call, at standard GenTech rates, for repairs to be performed.


The Standard Plan - Starting at $375

The Standard Plan is the most popular with our customers as it combines an affordable rate with an exceptional return on investment in both the work performed and the quality of care given by our technicians.

Services include the following:

  • Access the controller fault log history and clear the auto-generated maintenance reminder.
  • Perform oil and oil filter replacement with OEM parts.
  • Replace the air filter with OEM parts.
  • Replace the spark plugs with OEM parts (spark plugs will be properly gapped and installed with anti-seize compound and dielectric grease for proper conductivity and corrosion prevention).
  • Test the battery for proper voltage and cold cranking amps. If a replacement is needed the customer will be informed and the battery can be replaced at standard GenTech pricing.
  • Perform a visual inspection and basic physical inspection of the generator's condition and note any damage or potential issues while performing a basic cleanup of the interior of the generator.
  • Test start the generator and leave in AUTO.

Failure of OEM generator or ATS components, parts. and materials are not covered by GenTech and will require an additional service call, at standard GenTech rates, for repairs to be performed.

The Premium Plan - Starting at $550

Offering the highest level of care and the most peace of mind, The Premium Plan is for our customers that want to take the worry out of maintaining their home generator.

Services include the following:

  • Access the controller fault log history and clear the auto-generated maintenance reminder.
  • Perform oil and oil filter replacement with OEM parts.
  • Replace the air filter with OEM parts.
  • Replace the spark plugs with OEM parts (spark plugs will be properly gapped and installed with anti-seize compound and dielectric grease for proper conductivity and corrosion prevention).
  • Perform a battery load test and clean the terminal connections as needed. While subscribed to The Premium Plan, if a replacement is ever needed, for any reason, a new battery will be installed at no addition a ????st.
  • GenTech will install a new battery in the generator every second year at no additional cost to the customer.
  • Perform a visual inspection and physical inspection of the interior and the exterior of the generator and perform minor repairs* related to standard service. Damages or potential issues will be noted while performing the cleanup of the generator.
  • Perform a visual inspection and physical inspection of the interior and the exterior of the automatic transfer switch and perform minor repairs* related to standard service. Damages or potential issues will be noted while performing the cleanup of the transfer switch.
  • If possible, a whole home power test will be performed to ensure the proper operation of the transfer switch and generator.
  • Test start the generator and leave in AUTO.
  • GenTech will schedule a follow-up wellness check 6 months after the PM is completed to monitor the oil level, test the battery, and check the general state of the generator.
  • This plan can be paid for in total in advance or in two parts, half when the initial PM is performed and the remaining half when the wellness check is performed.

minor repairs• - securing loose electrical connections, fuel line connections, replacing minor damaged wiring or electrical components that are not considered an OEM part/component and are determined to have occurred due to standard operation of a properly functioning system.
